SUMMARY

This report presents data on cable modem services usage in the US business market, in both commercial and residential office locations. Five-year forecasts of spending and subscribers are included, as well as data on the propensity of users of T1 and DSL services to switch to cable, and their reasons for doing so. General trends in telecom priorities and investment are also discussed.

With more than 40 million at home workers in the US today, it is not surprising that cable modems would actually be quite common, relatively speaking, in the US business market. In-Stat/MDR research shows that businesses of all sizes are taking advantage of the low prices and high bandwidth available from most cable modem service providers today. Though most business cable access is actually among telecommuters (reimbursed and un-reimbursed), the research also shows that businesses are using commercial-grade cable modem services as well.
