SUMMARY
Shipments of personal navigation devices (PNDs) will continue to grow over the
next five years. Key drivers for PND market growth include falling price
points, increased worldwide consumer demand, and enhanced functionality in new
PND models.
Still, the PND market faces strong competition from both handset navigation
and embedded automotive navigation systems. In particular, vendors in handset
navigation are starting to offer a number of value-add services, such as
pedestrian navigation, offline navigation, and searches for local points of
interest.
