SUMMARY
Mentor Corporation, headquartered in Santa Barbara, California, USA, develops,
manufactures and markets products for plastic and reconstructive surgery.
Until recently, Mentor also had a strong position in the urology market but,
in June 2006, sold its Surgical Urology and Clinical and Consumer Healthcare
units to Coloplast, leaving it with only the Aesthetic and General Surgery
segment.
Mentor's remaining products principally consist of breast implants, tissue
expanders, products for traditional liposuction, dermal fillers, cosmetic
surgery software and ultrasound-assisted products for soft tissue aspiration
in general and cosmetic applications. Most of the products are manufactured
and marketed by Mentor, while the company's Byron Medical division offers the
liposuction and ultrasound-assisted devices.
