SUMMARY

Lundbeck aspires to become one of the world's leading specialist suppliers of drugs to treat CNS diseases. This report provides a full review of the company's activities together with sales forecasts for key products to 2010.

Lundbeck is a research-based pharmaceutical company which, since 1989, has concentrated on a single core therapeutic area, namely the development and sale of pharmaceuticals for the treatment of diseases of the central nervous system. To date, the company has largely focused on drugs for psychiatry and neurology, however it has broader ambitions, namely to become one of the world's leading specialist suppliers of drugs to treat CNS diseases.

In February 2004, Lundbeck entered into one of its biggest partnerships to date, after signing an agreement with Merck & Co for the development and commercialisation of gaboxadol in the US. This was extended in June 2004 to include Japan, giving Lundbeck a competent partner in the two largest CNS markets.

In addition, Lundbeck maintained a high level of research funding relative to the industry average at DKr 1,782 million in 2005 (+0.3 per cent), accounting for 19.6 per cent of total revenue. Lundbeck expects to be able to continue this level of funding in years to come.
