SUMMARY
Par Pharmaceutical was founded in New York in 1978. Many products are
licensed-in from other generic manufacturers, such as Genpharm or Spectrum, or
originator companies. Par has concluded a number of authorised generic
agreements with originators, most recently with AstraZeneca for metoprolol ER.
Par's in-house manufacturing capabilities revolve principally around Kali
Laboratories, a company acquired in 2004. Both companies hold a number of
ANDAs under their own name. The most recent drug to be approved is
ondansetron, a version of Merck's Zofran.
The company boosted its position in the US market in 2006, through the
purchase of a number of drugs from Teva and IVAX. This was mandated by the FTC
as a condition of the merger between the latter two companies.
This report provides information on the company's active product lines and
ANDA approvals, along with a review of major developments, such as M&A
activity, strategic alliances and litigation. The company's most recent
quarterly and annual financial results are illustrated with comparative
figures, charts and a detailed review of the data which allows you to track
the company's progress.
