SUMMARY
The 2008 WiMAX Expo was held in Taipei, Taiwan from June 2-6 2008. Following
the WiMAX Forum Taipei Showcase and Conference, held in Taipei in October
2007, the WiMAX industry again turned its eyes towards Taiwan. The latest
exhibition highlighted the global WiMAX industry's supply chain, providing
major international players and Taiwanese makers opportunities to establish
new partnerships. This report examines key trends in WiMAX terminal devices,
network equipment and application services at the 2008 WiMAX Expo. MIC
analysts visited the exhibition, interviewed representatives from relevant
companies, and analyzed the exhibition from the perspective of worldwide
industry development. The report finds that WiMAX terminal devices are
becoming more varied, and that the open CPE concept is finding acceptance
among the leading international telecom equipment vendors.
